[Emails from America back to the UK]

So let me tell you about the last couple of days. I had a cold can you believe it! A stinking cold in this weather (hot by the way). However through the use of many drugs and funny colored liquids the cold relented and was eventually evicted today. Apart from one day it didn't slow me down at all, taking a day off to just chill out and laze around helped no end and now I am ready to take on America again!

[Boston, 98] So yeah, we went from Beverly to Boston by train and looked at cool stuff! Let me tell you about Boston. It's a city unlike all other cities I've visited here in America ku it is really old in places. It has some old stuff that can rival buildings back in the UK. I love American cities ku there just so BIG. But I guess I am noticing that on this side of the States things are not generally quite as big as they are on the West Coast. The state of Massachusetts is itself small as are pretty much all the surrounding States. The neighboring town to the one where I am staying is only down the road and the only way you know your in another town is by the fact that all the Police cars are different colors and the Ambulance and fire dept vehicles are different.

Anyway we walked around and in true dramatic American fashion there was a jumper on the top of a building! We arrived just as police officials had managed to talk him down. Just for one jumper there were an awful lot of emergency vehicles. Next stop was the New England Aquarium, an ad, oh boy, that was incredible! It had a massive tank that you could spiral down the side of on a walk ramp. Inside they had so many cool things including sharks, eels and even giant turtles! If you are ever here in Boston that place is a must ku it really is something.

I was tempted to pay for Anne and I to be real tourists by going on a 'Duck tour' of the city. They are these massive amphibious busses that tour not only around the city streets but also around the waters of the harbor and river! However, I decided that this would be something great for me when I'm 60 or something, but right now I have an image to up keep! :)

My passion for sky scrapers was fed by a trip up to the top of the tallest building in Boston, The John Hancock tower. It's only 60 floor high but the view was awesome. We also walked around the Boston library which is a fantastic old building that is more like a museum than a library. Basically we did loads and it was great.

We spent some time in the park watching a 'little league' game (Children's baseball) then went for a stroll along the very student filled riverside. At that point I totally felt like I was in America with people doing all manor of healthy things like running, brisk walking, cycling and relocating all over the place. Harvard was just around the corner and due to the other universities in the area the population of young people (I hate that tag) was as I say very high.
