Date: Wed, June 3, 1998, 7:20 amWell after my time in New England I have now arrived and settled into Chicago. I left Beverly, New England in true style though. A 28ft long super stretched limo with full bar, blacked out windows the works! I was feeling extravagant so I hired it to go to the airport. (Thing is they're not all that expensive) Anne rode along with me and got the ride home all to herself! It was SO cool, I felt like some big famous rich person! I'm gonad hire another limo to Chicago airport when I leave most probably, but we'll see about that. It'd certainly be better that way as I don't like those airport goodbyes too much. So this is the second leg of the adventure, Chicago! And boy this place is a BIG city! I flew in via Cincinnati which was kin da odd ku I was able to get off the plane walk around the airport and then just get back on the plane to continue the flight?! When we came into Chicago the city looked amazing spread below us, the sky scrappers were awesome but then the plane turned and I was left looking at lake Michigan while those on the other side of the plane had a birds eye view of all of Chicagoland! Ah well, it was kin da made up for when the captain of the flight invited me to sit up front after we had landed. He showed me all the controls and stuff and even took a picture of me in the pilots seat! Cool! (I'm just a big wide eyed kid really!) Today I have just hung out with my friend Paula, her husband Anthony and their 4 month old son Ethan. (seems I am surrounded by couples with small children!?) We went to Anthony's work place Wheaton College which had... get this, a history of evangelism museum!!! It was kin da mad ku you walk around the museum looking at all this religious stuff then at the end walk into a mock up for heaven at the end of a very dark tunnel. As you walk into heaven all the lights come on and you are in this room with a picture of the sky on the walls and mirrors on the floor and ceilings with 'hallelujah' playing!! It was history with a massive dose of American cheese to help it all go down! This evening we went and hung out in this massive, and I really do mean MASSIVE, book store!! Sounds kin da goofy I know, but it also has a coffee house in it to and you could just pick up books, nags or newspapers buy a coffee and hang out. I am not a big fan of books so I spent ages listening to loads of music in the record store and just flicking through what seemed like hundreds of magazines! |
